Studies show that the top 3% performers of athletes and students write down their goals more often than athletes and students who do not perform as well. This is one reason I feel strongly that your progress largely depends upon writing down your short and long term goals. It is easier to follow through what you must do to achieve your goals when you can see them written down. It will help you to become persistent and disciplined. Every time you follow your written plan, you are one step closer to reaching your goals. Being able to see it on paper in a journal or daily planner will be a constant reminder.
1.) Picture in your mind exactly what it is you desire. Write down your goal and be as specific as possible about what you want to achieve. Think about all the positive things that will occur in your life when you achieve your goal. Think about how you will feel if you do not make these changes.
2.) Determine what you plan to do to achieve your goal and write it down.
3.) Establish a timeline for when you intend to have it accomplished. Even if you allow yourself flexibility with how much time you take to reach your goal, you will achieve your goal faster by writing it down.
4.) Begin to take action at once creating positive habits and behaviors that help you achieve your goal.
5.) Read your written goal statement aloud twice a day. Once in the morning, once in the evening. As you read your goal, SEE, FEEL and BELIEVE yourself to be already in possession of what you desire. Act “as if” you already have achieved your goal and have exactly what you want. It is yours right now. In the same way that every great leader who ever lived was a dreamer, you must create a dream and believe in yourself. Visualize, meditate or put on some inspirational music to get your creative juices flowing and to inspire a great DESIRE to attain what you want in your life.
Our brains become magnetized by the dominating thoughts we hold in our minds. The magnetic force then attracts us to the people and circumstances in our lives which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts. The more you focus on a particular outcome or goal, the more you will desire the outcome. Desire is the motivating factor that will help you attain everything you want in your life. I’m not talking about a mere wish or hope, but a definite, determined, pulsating desire that grows stronger each day and will not waver until it reaches attainment. You have the power to control your thoughts; you can control your destiny
